Elizabeth Ortiz, M.D.
Principal Investigator – Rheumatology & Internal Medicine
As an Investigator for Cedar Health Research, Dr. Elizabeth Ortiz brings extensive clinical and research experience to the team.
Dr. Ortiz is a double board-certified Internist and Rheumatologist who was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) as well as being the Director of the USC Medical Center Lupus Clinic, the Director of the USC Medical Center Rheumatology Clinics, the Musculoskeletal System Chair of USC’s medical school and the Program Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship at USC.
In 1999, Dr. Ortiz graduated from Texas A&M University with a degreee in biomedical science. She went on to earn her medical degree at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York in 2004. Dr. Ortiz completed her internal medicine residency at University of Southern California (USC) LAC+USC Medical Center in 2007 followed by completion of her rheumatology fellowship at USC in 2010.
Dr. Ortiz has won the Outstanding Teaching in Year II Award from Keck School of Medicine, has been President of the Southern California Rheumatology Society, and is a Fellow Member of the American College of Rhematology.
She has consulted on many complex rheumatology cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings, has performed many procedures. She has also served as sub investigator and principal investigator for many clinical research studies.
